How do you calculate the SPF?

SPF preparations have to be sent off to a lab to be tested. It has been through months of rigorous testing by a specialised third party facility. They do a series of tests and come up with an average SPF- in our case it’s SPF 33 (but we label it SPF 30 for simplicity).

This is part of EU guidance on the sale and regulation of cosmetics, which currently governs UK cosmetics. It’s particularly strict for suncreams of course.

So to summarise, our Sunshine Balm has been thoroughly tested and it has all the necessary certificates and is confirmed by a third party to have an SPF of at least 30.

Does this suncream stain white clothing?
As with many suncreams that contain moisturising oil-based ingredients, this balm can stain white clothing. Please feel free to contact us for some tips on how to remove tricky suncream stains!

This sunscreen is definitely for the POC girlies and guys, I would highly recommend it. Leaves your skin feeling glossy and dewy. I get a lot of compliments when I use it which is every dayyy!

    Love love love

lifesaver in the winter when you want a moisturising balm with that extra spf. gives skin almost a tanned look without making it orange . so much better than mainstream sun creams that give off a white cast. the only reason i gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because sometimes it can flake but i think that only occurs to me if i don’t take it off with an oil cleanser at the end of the day.

    Lovely natural SPF

I absolutely love this product. It took me so long to find a 'natural' SPF that didn't still have some sort of nasty chemical in, or wasn't so white and thick that it was impossible to apply. I have relatively fair skin and I've been wearing it daily the las few weeks and only caught the sun a little when I forgot to reapply. My only constructive feedback is that the pots mean it's not super easy to apply quickly, or portable to take out and about. It would be great to see this also supplied in some sort of stick/tube to make it easier to use on the go!
